Ballantrae Angler’s Poker Run

 

for the benefit of the Ballantrae Artificial Reef Fund

Wednesday, December 9, 2009. 

 

Boats start at 10AM, choose a card at each of the five stations (Cards can be paid for @ $2 each at each station or can be paid for in full at the first station.  Also, all cards and payment can be transacted at station #5.)

 

The game will be played in the large covered pavilion at Rivergate Park.  Soft beverages and water will be provided.  Bring your own lunch or plan to dine at Hurricane Grill across the creek.

 

St Lucie River North Fork Historic Trail:

 

Captain’s navigational information – Controlling depth the entire route is greater than 6’ except the entrance to Rivergate area which can be as low as 3’ and narrow.  Tidal range is normally two and a half feet.  The only bridge is St Lucie Blvd Bridge with a clearance of at least 18’.

 

Station #1. Boat________________ by the path leading up to Spruce Bluff & the memorial marker to the first settlers in Port St Lucie (end of the 19th century) located at the southwest intersection of the North Fork and the C-24 canal.

 

Station #2. Boat ________________  by the entrance to Mud Cove (that’s where Bird Island is) from the North Fork.  Daymarker Green 17.

 

Station #3.  Boat _________________ where Pruitt’s Slough enters the North Fork.  Where the bridge to Nowhere used to be for the filming of James Bond movie “Moonraker” in 1979

 

Station #4. Boat __________________ just beyond the Port St Lucie Blvd Bridge on the West side where the connecting canal from Long Creek enters the North Fork.

 

Station #5. Rivergate at Veterans Park.  On the dock near the pavilion.
