Bill Scalia Arranges Trip to Islamorada April 20th & 21st
Aboard the Tiki, captained by Roy Linback, were Tom Lab, Roger Sandstrom, Claude Heutz, Frank Toner, and Bob Dunning, while the Caribsea, captained by Kenny Spaulding, were Hal Fowler, Anci Drahota, John Griffen, Dee Polletti, and Pete Poletti serving as the crew.
With lunches prepared by Chef Roger, we embarked on 2 days of great fishing and angler education. The seas were acceptable and all of the fisher – men and women faired well. The ladies on the Caribsea appear to have out-fished their male counterparts, while also feeding 2 friendly popoises with a portion of their bait. The catches included 100 plus Yellow Tails, Dolphin, Grouper, Amberjacks, and a few other miscellaneous critters.
On our first gathering of both crews, recognition of the recent deaths of anglers, Chuck Van Assche and George Liss, was made with a moment of silence.
Meeting at dinner to share fish tales and fine cuisine was another highlight of the experience. Our restaurant prepared the fish supplied by our angler’s catches, and it was served in a variety of sushi, braked, broiled, and fired varieties. The exaggeration of the day’s activities abounded.
Great fishing, camaraderie, accommodations, and all of the other details, calls for a vote of thanks to Hal, Bill, Roger, and each other.
WILL WE REPEAT? YOU BET!
