On January 21st Captain John Ghee, the First and now the Second Annual Luncheon Cruise organizer, set sail for Shrimper’s Grill and Raw Bar on his flagship boat, followed by two other boats. No, we are not referring to the Nina, Pinta and the Santa Maria. John captained the Ghee Whiz, John Pulley, the Aquaholic and Frank Toner, the Solas. Originally, eleven boats were scheduled to sail, but due to the cold and wind and boats without protective enclosures eight captains, along with mates, decided to traverse Federal Highway 1 in their four wheel vessels. In total, sixty three captains and mates arrived at Shrimpers for lunch, far exceeding last year’s attendance of 42. Food and service at Shrimper’s was excellent. We all had a great time and look forward to next year’s Third Annual Luncheon. We all owe a big “thank you” to the captains. Not only to those whose boats we used, but also to those who volunteered to take the mates onboard, but had to cancel due to inclement weather. Without their volunteerism, space availability would have been reduced and the event would not have been as successful. Thanks to Captains Fred Caress, Dennis Carrino, Barry Doying, Hal Fowler, John Ghee, John Griffin, Carol Hansen, Glen Kay, John Pulley, Don Thompson and Frank Toner. Bill Scalia
